Excluding them, CSE turnover was Tk 92.94 mn (-36.89%).
KEY OBSERVATION | The market's tone changed from drift to recovery. Every DSE sector group tracked in this report except Cement advanced on a volume-weighted basis, led by Food & Allied (+3.31%), Financial Institutions (+2.23%) and Ceramics (+4.10%). Banks (+0.65%; 17 up / 5 down) added support on the day of the PRIMEBANK and BRACBANK board meetings, although PRIMEBANK itself fell 0.99%. The terminal sentiment gauge moved to 67 'Bull' from 29 'Bear'.
SCENARIO CASTING| The 28 Oct close moves the DSEX from a downside alert to a recovery-confirmation watch. Tomorrow (29 Oct) needs follow-through to confirm it. All levels come from today's report.
Yesterday's scenarios, tested today:
Recovery: Met. The DSEX closed at 5,433.27, above 5,404.87, the 5-day average (5,418.38) and the 27 Oct high (5,421.51), with an advance/decline ratio of 3.68x (needed above 1.00x).
Heavy selling: Not triggered. Turnover was above Tk 4,300 mn (Tk 4,409.54 mn), but breadth was strongly positive, so that was heavy buying, not selling.
Momentum crossover: Avoided. The MACD histogram widened to +3.19 instead of turning negative.
