Bangladesh’s equity market reversed lower on 11 October 2026, ending the two-session rebound. The DSEX declined 0.45% to 5,451.04 and closed at the session low after reaching an intraday high of 5,496.94, indicating renewed selling pressure after another failure around the 5,482–5,510 resistance zone. Market breadth deteriorated sharply to 79 advances against 264 declines, while the DSE sentiment gauge dropped from 45 to 20, returning to “Extreme Bear.” Unlike the preceding rebound sessions, the decline occurred alongside stronger market activity. DSE turnover rose 6.64% to Tk 5,685.97 million, transactions increased 6.72%, and volume advanced 8.18%, suggesting active selling rather than simply weak participation. Large caps remained relatively defensive, with DS30 falling only 0.11%, while DSES declined 0.61% and DSMEX dropped 1.18%. Mutual funds and insurers were among the weakest segments, while retail investors turned marginal net sellers and institutions remained small net buyers. Technically, the failed rebound has returned attention to the 6 October support zone around 5,421.69–5,424.91, followed by the 14 September correction low of 5,379. The DSEX remains well below its recent rebound high and has retraced 71.5% of the 14–24 September recovery, leaving the short-term downtrend intact unless resistance is decisively reclaimed.

1. Executive Summary
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reversed lower on Sunday, 11 October 2026, ending the two-session rebound. DSEX fell 0.45% to 5,451.04 and closed at its intraday low, after trading as high as 5,496.94 in the morning (official). Breadth turned sharply negative (79 advances / 264 declines, A/D 0.30), the weakest reading since 6 October, and the market sentiment gauge fell to 20 ("Extreme Bear") from 45. Unlike the rebound days, the decline came on higher activity: turnover rose 6.64% to Tk 5,685.97 mn, trades 6.72% and volume 8.18%. Large caps held up best (DS30 –0.11%), while DSES (–0.61%) and DSMEX (–1.18%) fell more. Mutual funds and insurers led the decline: no traded fund rose, six funds were among the ten largest losers, and only one general insurer advanced. Retail investors were small net sellers, institutions small net buyers; the snippet did not report a foreign row. On the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CSCX fell 0.20% to 8,999.38, back below 9,000. CSE turnover fell 33.17% to its lowest since 25 August because block trades almost disappeared, although trades and main-board turnover rose.

1.3 Cross-Market Conclusion
Direction. DSEX lost 24.54 points (-- 0.45%) to 5,451.04, giving back both rebound sessions' gains except 26 points. It closed at the day's low after an official high of 5,496.94, so sellers controlled the afternoon. For a second session the index failed below the 5,482–5,510 resistance band (the 8 October high was 5,501.69). DSEX is now 1.34% above the 14 September correction low of 5,379 (press) and 0.54% above the 6 October pullback low of 5,421.69. DS30 (–0.11%) and CDSET (–0.03%, dashboard) held up; DSES (–0.61%) and DSMEX (–1.18%) fell more, so the decline was broader among small and Shariah-compliant shares. On the CSE, CSCX fell 0.20% to 8,999.38 and CSE30 0.20%; only CSI rose (+0.05%).
Liquidity and intensity. DSE turnover rose 6.64%, trades 6.72% and volume 8.18%. Normal-board turnover rose 6.44% to Tk 5,343.14 mn and block turnover 7.27% to Tk 335.17 mn (5.89% of total). Average turnover per transaction was almost unchanged at Tk 30,870. A decline in rising turnover and trades, with breadth this weak, points to active selling rather than a lack of buyers. CSE turnover fell 33.17% to Tk 90.06 mn as block value fell 88.91%, while CSE trades rose 9.36% and main-board turnover 7.62%.
Breadth and participation. DSE breadth was 79 advances / 264 declines (A/D 0.30, 3.34 decliners per advancer), reversing two positive sessions. That puts the market back above the 2.5–3.0 decliner-per-advancer level flagged as a warning in the October risk framework. Mutual funds (0 up / 26 down on official closes), General Insurance (1 / 42), Textile (11 / 40) and Engineering (9 / 27) were broadly lower. Investor flow was close to balanced: retail net sold 0.15% of total (its first net selling in the four sessions covered), institutions net bought 0.18%.
Relative activity and concentration. The DSE accounted for 98.44% of combined turnover. Textile fell to 23.91% of main-board turnover, its lowest share of the last three sessions, while Miscellaneous rose to 11.06% on BEXIMCO (Tk 281.29 mn, +5.33%) and GQBALLPEN (Tk 240.60 mn, +6.65%). The top ten counters made up 29.22% of main-board turnover. Overall, the rebound stalled at resistance and the market reversed on broad selling and higher turnover. The September low has not been…
