Bangladesh’s equity market rebounded on 7 October 2026, ending a four-session decline. The DSEX advanced 0.72% to 5,463.89, while market breadth turned positive for the first time since 30 September, with 191 advances against 134 declines. Turnover increased 7.21% to Tk 6,048.39 million, supported by a 10.94% recovery in normal-board turnover, indicating stronger open-market participation rather than a block-driven rise. Large-cap indices outperformed, with DS30 gaining 0.95% and DSES 1.04%, while the DSE sentiment gauge improved sharply from 20 to 48, moving from “Extreme Bear” to “Neutral.” The rebound was nevertheless mixed in quality. Retail investors remained net buyers, foreign investors returned to net buying, while institutions switched to net selling. Textile continued to dominate trading activity, accounting for 32.01% of DSE main-board turnover, while mutual funds remained comparatively weak. Technically, the September support zone held, but DSEX still needs follow-through above the 5,480–5,482 resistance area to strengthen the case for a more durable recovery.

1.3 Cross-Market Conclusion
Direction. DSEX gained 38.98 points (+0.72%) to 5,463.89, its first rise in five sessions. The index did not retest the 14 September correction low of 5,379 (press): the 6 October intraday low of 5,421.69 now stands as the pullback low, 0.79% above it. DSEX is 1.58% above the correction low and has recovered the 5 October close (5,445.28), but it remains below the 4 October close (5,482.36). DS30 (+0.95%) and DSES (+1.04%) outperformed, so large caps led the rebound. On the CSE, CSCX rose 0.79% to 9,009.15 and CASPI 0.67% to 14,655.79, with CSE30 (+1.26%) and CSE50 (+1.15%) stronger still.
Liquidity and intensity. DSE turnover rose +7.21% and volume +7.44%, while transactions were nearly flat (+0.23%). Unlike 6 October, the increase came from the open market: normal-board turnover rose 10.94% to Tk 5,544.10 mn, and block turnover fell 22.51% to Tk 493.34 mn (8.16% of total). Average turnover per transaction rose +6.96% to Tk 35,049. CSE turnover fell –11.40% to Tk 147.52 mn on 1,007 trades, and block trades made up 68.74% of it.
Breadth and participation. DSE breadth was 191 advances / 134 declines (A/D 1.43), against 79 / 270 on 6 October. That ends four consecutive sessions with more than 2.5 decliners per advancer. Gains were broad across Engineering, Pharma, Banks and Textile, while mutual funds and general insurers were net weaker. Investor flow was mixed: retail (+1.43% of total), foreign investors (+0.53%) and "Others" (+0.22%) were net buyers, and institutions were net sellers (–2.00%) after three sessions of net buying. Foreign participation fell back to 0.87% of activity from 4.42%.
Relative activity and concentration. The DSE accounted for 97.62% of combined turnover. Textile took 32.01% of DSE main-board turnover, and the top ten counters 33.51%, led by ETL (Tk 384.59 mn, +9.52%). On the CSE, PTL accounted for 63.4% of turnover. Overall, the session was a broad-based rebound on higher open-market turnover from just above the September low. That is the first constructive evidence since 30 September, but that earlier bounce failed the next day, so one session does not confirm a reversal.
