1.3 Cross-Market Conclusion

Direction. DSEX fell 37.08 points (–0.68%) to 5,445.28, after an early high of 5,507.07. The index has now closed lower on three consecutive sessions, each at the session low, and has fallen below the 5,472–5,494 zone of the 15–16 September closes. It is 1.23% above the 14 September correction low of 5,379 (press). DS30 (–0.17%) held up much better than DSES (–0.91%) and DSEX, so the decline was concentrated outside the largest names. CSCX (–0.36%) and CASPI (–0.27%) also fell to their lowest closes since 15 September, while CSE30 (+0.04%) and CSE50 (+0.07%) were marginally higher.

Liquidity and intensity. DSE turnover slipped –1.08% to Tk 5,371.17 mn, a new period low, but volume rose +5.62% and transactions +0.49%. Normal-board turnover rose 1.71%, while block turnover nearly halved again (–48.29%) to Tk 157.34 mn, only 2.93% of turnover. CSE turnover recovered +28.58% to Tk 171.35 mn on 1,266 trades. A single MATINSPINN main-board print of 820,000 shares (Tk 59.86 mn) accounted for 34.9% of it.

Breadth and participation. DSE breadth fell to 54 advances / 284 declines (A/D 0.19), or 5.26 decliners per advancer. It is the third consecutive session above the October risk framework's 2.5–3.0 warning band (Section 25) and the weakest reading in the period. Retail net selling widened to –1.37% of total, while institutions (+0.37%), foreign investors (+0.58%) and "Others" (+0.57%) were net buyers. The DSE sentiment gauge reached 15 ("Extreme Bear"), the lowest reading in the period.

Relative activity and concentration. The DSE accounted for 96.91% of combined turnover. Textile led the DSE (29.54% of main-board turnover), and APEXFOODS (+19.58%) and ACMEPL drove Food & Allied (+102.08%) and Pharma (+29.16%) activity. Overall, the session extended the decline on very weak breadth and retail-led selling. Large caps held up and turnover did not surge, so the move resembles a grinding decline rather than a capitulation. The 14 September low and the indicator levels in Section 5.7 are the key references.
