The rise came against the heaviest institutional net selling in the period reviewed, which retail investors absorbed. 1.3 Cross-Market Conclusion

Direction. DSEX gained 26.07 points (+0.47%) to 5,550.44, its first rise after four lower closes. The session broke the recent pattern: the intraday low (5,539.15) held above the previous close, the intraday high (5,562.76) exceeded the 28 and 29 September highs (the first higher high since 24 September), and the index did not close at its low. DS30 (+0.66%) outperformed, and DSES rose 0.41%. On the CSE, CASPI rose 0.28%. Sentiment gauges read 49 ("Neutral") for the DSE, up from 35, and 48 ("Neutral") for the CSE, up from 39.

Liquidity and intensity. DSE turnover rose +10.18% to Tk 6,991.18 mn, with normal-board turnover up 13.19% and block turnover down 17.75%. Volume eased –1.79% while transactions rose +2.52%, so traded value per share rose to Tk 34.16. That points to activity in higher-priced names (BNICL, BXPHARMA, PTL). CSE turnover rose +85.17% to Tk 468.69 mn, and CSE transactions rose 40.67%, a broader increase than in the previous two sessions.

Breadth and participation. DSE breadth improved to 190 advances / 130 declines (A/D 1.46), the third consecutive improvement and the first positive reading since 23 September. The largest loss among the top ten losers was only –4.35%, and eight of the ten losers were Z-category. Investor flow was mixed: retail net buying rose to +2.41% of total, while institutions posted the heaviest net selling in the period (–3.87%). Foreign investors turned net buyers (+0.38%) for the first time in the sessions reviewed.

Relative activity and concentration. The DSE accounted for 93.72% of combined turnover. PTL was the dominant cross-market counter: Tk 409.89 mn on the DSE (including block) and Tk 246.19 mn on the CSE, 52.5% of all CSE turnover. The top three DSE sectors made up 57.01%…
