The DSE opened the week lower on 27 September 2026, with DSEX falling 45.58 points (0.82%) to 5,532.75 as market breadth weakened sharply and declines significantly outnumbered advances. Turnover eased 3.82% to Tk 7,274.03 million, while trading volume rose 6.75%, indicating heavier activity in lower-priced securities. CSE turnover surged 136.41% to Tk 395.29 million, but the increase was heavily concentrated in a few large transactions rather than broad-based market participation.

1. Executive Summary
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened the week lower on Sunday, 27 September 2026, extending Thursday's decline for a second session. As on 24 September, an early advance failed and DSEX closed at its session low. Breadth deteriorated sharply, turnover eased modestly and volume rose. On the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), turnover more than doubled, but the increase came almost entirely from a small number of very large prints.

1.3 Cross-Market Conclusion
Direction. DSEX fell 45.58 points (–0.82%) to 5,532.75. That is below the 22 September close of 5,540.32, so the 23–24 September rebound has now been fully reversed on a closing basis. The index traded up to 5,592.96 early in the session, then closed at the low; this is the second consecutive close at the session low. DSES (–1.13%) and DS30 (–0.61%) also closed at their lows. The supplied market-sentiment gauge read 20 ("Extreme Bear") for the DSE and 37 ("Bear") for the CSE. CSE index levels were still not supplied, so CSE index direction cannot be stated. The tick-based breadth proxy was negative (40 up / 72 down).
Liquidity and intensity. DSE turnover eased –3.82% to Tk 7,274.03 mn while volume rose +6.75% and transactions were marginally higher (+0.31%). Traded value per share fell –9.90% to Tk 28.60, which fits a shift toward lower-priced counters. Mutual funds (volume 94.85 mn shares, 37.3% of the total) are the clearest example. CSE turnover rose +136.41% to Tk 395.29 mn, but two main-board prints (PARAMOUNT and RELIANCINS) plus block trades made up most of it.
Breadth and participation. DSE breadth was the weakest of the three sessions reviewed: 75 advances against 277 declines (A/D 0.27, from 0.74). Only 19.3% of traded scrips rose. Gainers were concentrated in closed-end mutual funds (seven of the top ten). Institutions turned from net buyers to net sellers: their net flow moved from +2.17% to –2.82% of total, while retail turned net buyer (+1.67%).
Relative activity and concentration. The DSE accounted for 94.85% of combined turnover, down from 97.84% as CSE activity spiked. Block trades were 4.95% of DSE turnover and 31.73% of CSE turnover. On the CSE, block trades plus the two large main-board prints came to 83.66% of total turnover. Overall, the session was a broad-based decline on stable liquidity. The DSEX has now given back most of its mid-September rebound, but the 14 September correction low (5,379) has not been retested.
