That is back above its 5-day SMA (5,437.56) and the 17 Oct close (5,433.18), but 1.43 points short of the 15 Oct close (5,452.06).

Liquidity improved strongly. DSE turnover rose +37.48% to Tk 5,026.32 mn, volume rose +52.93% to 177,696,667 shares, and transactions rose +9.07% to 145,568. Turnover was +19.55% above the 12–17 Oct five-session average (Tk 4,204.28 mn) and above the 15 Oct level (Tk 4,996.90 mn). Breadth turned positive: 186 advances, 136 declines and 58 unchanged (A/D 1.37x, from 0.47x on 18 Oct). Mutual funds rose almost across the board (22 up / 1 down).

On the CSE, CSCX rose +0.46% to 8,975.20 and CASPI +0.46% to 14,603.91, against official 18 Oct closes. CSI was the only index to fall (-0.10%). CSE turnover rose +140.85% to Tk 211.73 mn over 1,154 trades. PTL (38.6%) and NITOLINS (20.7%) made up most of it.

KEY OBSERVATION | The rebound was led by large-cap banks and backed by both liquidity and breadth. Bank turnover nearly quadrupled to Tk 1,159.5 mn on the terminal, making Bank the top sector. PRIMEBANK (Tk 301.57 mn, +4.24%), BRACBANK (Tk 243.59 mn, +2.26%) and CITYBANK (Tk 186.48 mn) were three of the top five securities, which explains DS30's lead. This was the last session before the 20–24 October Durga Puja closure, so part of the buying may reflect pre-holiday positioning. The next session is on 25 October.

DISCLOSURE CONTEXT | DSE’s 19 October morning news feed contained 61 consolidated notices through 11:50 BST: 33 board-meeting items, 17 corporate/inspection updates, 6 exchange/regulatory notices and 5 fund NAV reports. Particularly relevant to traded names were MATINSPINN’s proposed 45% cash and 10% stock dividend, expansion announcements and PURABIGEN’s improved quarterly EPS; SHARPIND disclosed no dividend, a move from B to Z category and a margin-financing restriction effective 25 October. These are issuer announcements, not evidence that any individual notice caused that day’s price movement.
